Job Description
Job Title: Enterprise Systems Architect (Google Workspace Migration)
Department: Information Technology / Enterprise Infrastructure
Position Type: Contract
Remote
Role Summary
We are seeking a seasoned Enterprise Systems Architect to serve as the principal technical authority and leader for a critical, large-scale digital transformation: migrating our entire enterprise infrastructure from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace.
In this role, you will bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and deep technical execution. You will be responsible for defining the comprehensive migration strategy, designing the target-state Google Workspace architecture, and establishing a multi-phase implementation roadmap. As the technical lead, you will guide engineering teams, manage risk, ensure data integrity, and minimize operational downtime for our global workforce.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Strategy
Roadmap Development: Architect and document the end-to-end technical strategy, migration discovery patterns, and sequencing roadmap for a seamless cutover.
Technical Governance: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and final escalation point for complex technical challenges bridging Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace ecosystems.
Stakeholder Alignment: Translate complex architectural decisions into actionable business insights for executive leadership, while providing clear, structured guidance to implementation teams.
Architecture & Migration Execution
Infrastructure Design: Design and configure a secure, scalable Google Workspace tenant architecture, encompassing organizational units (OUs), core apps (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Calendar, Meet), and administrative privileges.
Data & Service Migration: Lead the architectural planning for migrating large-scale mailboxes, complex calendar structures, distribution groups, and massive document stores (moving from SharePoint Online and OneDrive to Google Drive).
Tooling Selection: Evaluate, test, and select enterprise-grade migration tools (e.g., Google Workspace Migrate, CloudM, BitTitan MigrationWiz) to automate and secure data transfer.
Coexistence Strategy: Design and manage temporary coexistence environments (mail routing, free/busy calendar lookups, and dual-delivery) to maintain seamless business operations during the transition phase.
Identity, Security & Compliance
Identity & Access Management (IAM): Design and implement secure authentication workflows, identity federation, and user provisioning bridging Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) and Google Cloud Identity.
Security & Data Loss Prevention (DLP): Establish robust security postures within the Google Admin Console, configuring Google Vault for eDiscovery, endpoint management (MDM), and custom DLP policies to align with enterprise compliance frameworks.
Mail Security & Routing: Oversee the updates and validation of crucial DNS configurations, including MX records, SPF, DKIM, and DMARC policies to prevent delivery interruptions or security vulnerabilities.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Experience
Enterprise Architecture: Minimum of 8+ years of progressive IT architecture and engineering experience in complex, large-scale enterprise environments ($>5,000+$ users).
Proven Migration Leadership: Must have successfully led at least one comprehensive, large-scale enterprise migration from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace from inception to post-migration validation.
Cross-Platform Expertise: Deep, authoritative technical knowledge of both the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Entra ID) and the Google Workspace suite.
Skills & Knowledge
Hands-on experience configuring and scaling native and third-party enterprise migration platforms.
Advanced understanding of cloud networking, identity management (SAML, OIDC, SSO), and email infrastructure.
Strong scripting and automation capabilities (e.g., using Google Apps Script, Python, or GAM) to handle bulk admin tasks and custom migration logic.
Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage change and handle the cultural shift associated with moving productivity suites.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Certifications

Google Cloud Certified: Professional Cloud Architect
Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
