Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced UPS Service Engineer Level III / IV to join our Critical Power Services team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and emergency support of mission-critical power systems. This role requires advanced technical expertise in UPS systems, battery technologies, power distribution equipment, and associated critical infrastructure supporting data centers, healthcare facilities, government agencies, industrial operations, and commercial customers.
The successful candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with major UPS manufacturers including Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Gutor, APC, MGE, Schneider Electric, Eaton/Powerware, and similar static power equipment.
Key Responsibilities
UPS Maintenance & Service
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on UPS systems ranging from single-phase to large three-phase installations.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair UPS equipment, battery systems, static switches, power distribution units (PDUs), and related critical power infrastructure.
Conduct startup, commissioning, and operational testing of newly installed UPS systems.
Execute firmware updates, system upgrades, and equipment modifications.
Perform load bank testing and capacity verification of UPS and battery systems.
Battery Systems
Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot VRLA, Flooded Cell, and Lithium-Ion battery systems.
Conduct battery impedance testing, discharge testing, and battery replacement projects.
Analyze battery performance data and provide recommendations for lifecycle management.
Emergency Response
Provide on-call support and respond to emergency service calls for mission-critical facilities.
Rapidly diagnose and resolve power quality issues, system alarms, and equipment failures.
Support customers during power outages, transfers, and critical operational events.
Technical Documentation
Prepare detailed field service reports, maintenance records, and customer recommendations.
Document equipment performance, service activities, and corrective actions.
Maintain accurate inventory and service records.
Customer Support
Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during service engagements.
Explain findings, corrective actions, and maintenance recommendations.
Build strong relationships with government, healthcare, institutional, industrial, and commercial clients.
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practices.
Maintain compliance with customer site-specific safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
Education
Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
Equivalent military or technical training will be considered.
Experience
Level III: 5+ years of UPS field service experience.
Level IV: 8+ years of advanced UPS service experience supporting mission-critical environments.
Technical Expertise
Hands-on experience with:
UPS Systems (10kVA – 2MW+)
Static and Rotary UPS Systems
Battery Systems (VRLA, Flooded Cell, Lithium-Ion)
Power Distribution Units (PDU)
Static Transfer Switches (STS)
Switchgear and Electrical Distribution Systems
Generators and Backup Power Systems
Data Center Power Infrastructure
Manufacturer Experience
Strong experience servicing one or more of the following:

Schneider Electric UPS
Eaton / Powerware UPS
Vertiv / Liebert UPS
ABB UPS
Required Skills
Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams.
Strong knowledge of AC/DC power systems.
Proficiency with electrical test equipment including:
Digital Multimeters

Oscilloscopes
Battery Test Equipment
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong customer-facing communication skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
